Fundulopanchax scheeliAnother really nice Fundulopanchax. Not as many people keep these as used to. I like to mop spawn these, then dry and store the mop for 3 weeks. Makes all the fry start out the same size. Mine do better if I start them on micro worms for 2-3 days, then add baby brine shrimp. They will be 7-10 days old before I stop feeding any micro worms and go with just baby brine shrimp. At about 3 weeks I start adding grindel worms to the mix. If you only want a few babies, just enjoy the fish. The eggs will water incubate and hatch in with the parents. If you have a good supply of plants to hide in, the fry will grow up. Not as many, but still quite a few.
Fundulopanchax batesii Akoemetam (Mbalmayo)Wild fish I got in early June 2002. I got 2 pairs. I have them each set up in a 5 gallon tank. Small layer of gravel, Cool Whip bowl with peat moss, java moss and java fern. They are eating blackworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp.
Fundulopanchax walkeri Orange
Fundulopanchax mirabilis moensis HAH98/Bakeba I got this pair at the St Louis convention. They are getting adjusted with blackworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp.
Fundulopanchax deltaensis I obtained a couple of pairs of these after the AKA Convention in St Louis. Pretty nice looking fish. Not a long lived fish so breeding needs to be a top priority right from the beginning. 3" or larger peat spawner. I keep them in a heavily planted tank with peat on the bottom. So far I have not gotten many eggs. Fundulopanchax marmoratus Mundemba GS-1 Gorgeous fish. A little shy. I find they spawn in mops. I pull and dry the mop, storing it for 3-4 weeks in the dark. Then I pick the eggs, placing them in good clean aquarium water. Fry are pretty good size when they hatch, but I still like some microworms for the first day or so. Then off to the races with baby brine shrimp and daphnia. |
