Fundulopanchax mirabilis moensis HAH98/Bakebe
Overview
| Very pretty fish which tends
towards shyness They like a more heavily planted tank than regular
gardneri. I treat them like a Fundulopanchax gardneri mamfensis type. Fish
get to be 2 1/2" or so. Feeding has been with baby brine shrimp,
daphnia, grandal worms. |

| Feeding |
| The fish seem to be very happy with
a diet of newly hatched brine shrimp, daphnia, mosquito larvae and
blackworms. All of it is eaten with out any particular favorite. With a
pretty densely planted tank, I prefer live food over frozen. The daphnia and
mosquito larvae tend to stay alive until eaten. |

| Breeding |
| I keep a pair in a 2 1/2 gallon
tank with a sponge or tee filter, a floating mop that drapes about 1/3 of
its length along the bottom of the tank, along with some java fern and java
moss. Tank has thin layer of gravel on the bottom. Lighting is pretty
subdued. So far in several egg collections, all the eggs have been in the
mops. I have not found any in the gravel, on the filter, or in the moss. I
have water incubated the eggs with good hatches. Another good way to get
eggs and fry is to let them stay in the tank for several weeks, them remove
the parents and let the eggs hatch in the setup tank. |
